our story
Laeo and Mowgli met almost five years ago, the day after Mowgli was born off the coast of Ecuador. American Village Dogs are among the few domestic animals that remain highly influenced by natural selection. The result is a breed of dogs that is independent, fierce, stubborn, and resourceful. Even with a strong background in animal behavior and training, it was a tall order for Laeo to raise Mo while living a nomadic lifestyle for a close partnership that would eventually include task training and medical alerts. Years of blood, sweat, tears, setbacks, and continuing education later, they did it. This team works tirelessly to acquire new skills and help each other find ease in the next set of challenges.

Methods and ethics are a hot topic in dog training these days, as they should be. In an unregulated industry, it's hard to know who to trust. The science of animal behavior is well-established in many areas and continues to be investigated in others. We are committed to staying up-to-date with developments in this field, ensuring that we provide our clients with the kindest and most effective training possible. We encourage our clients to bring any questions and concerns they may have about this topic as we collaborate on your dog's behavioral modification program. There are no cookie-cutter approaches; we are always training the human-dog team in front of us, exactly as they are that day. Regardless of how we proceed with your dog, our methods align with current industry standards as outlined in the CCPDT's Standards of Practice.
